Nutritionists have named foods that reduce the risk of diabetes

A group of researchers from the University of Alberta of Canada and Shahid Beheshti Medical University in Iran have named foods that reduce the risk of diabetes, a scientific paper published in the Nutrition Journal.

Endocrinologists and nutritionists have concluded that dairy products can reduce the risk of type 2 diabetes, usually caused by poor diet. For a long time, researchers studied the condition of 639 volunteers, whom doctors warned about possible problems with insulin. After nine years, 25 percent of the volunteers had the condition.

Those who increased their dairy intake experienced a lower risk of type 2 diabetes (43 percent lower). The disease occurred less frequently in those who included low-fat yoghurts in their diet (the risk dropped by 27 percent). According to biologists, the enzymes in yogurt can have a positive effect on the body’s sugar processing.

At the same time, cheese negatively affected the condition of people prone to diabetes. Therefore, scientists have advised to eat it in small quantities.

Earlier, experts from the UK Nutrition Scientific Advisory Committee said that one of the ways to cope with diabetes is a low-carb diet.
